The increasingly wide appeal of V8 Supercar racing became even more evident when VIP Petfoods was announced as the naming-rights partner of this year's Queensland 500.
The announcement opens the door to a whole new range of corporate identities looking for a new avenue of exposure and, in some cases, a whole new market of customers.
VIP Petfoods owner, Tony Quinn, says his company's involvement with the Queensland 500 simply made a lot of sense.
"We have tasted some marketing success through our involvement in motorsport in the last couple of years at different levels and we see the Queensland 500 as an exciting opportunity for us," said Quinn.
"Many people might ask what pet food has to do with motor racing, but there are few race fans who don't own a dog or a cat and we see them all as potential customers.
"We see this partnership as a massive branding exercise and we will be working closely with the Queensland Raceway's media and marketing people to ensure maximum benefit for all of us. We are also proud to be a Queensland company and to be involved with an event which offers such a great experience for Queensland sports fans."
Early ticket buyers for this years VIP Petfoods Queensland 500 will go into the draw to win the ultimate "Road Trip" to Bathursts V8 1000 on October 6-7 for themselves and three mates. Queensland Raceway and TripleM have combined to provide the prize which can be entered by simply phoning Tickermaster7 on 1300 888 086 or by logging on to www.ticketmaster7.com and purchasing a ticket.
Interstate fans do not have to attend to the VIP Petfoods Queensland 500 to collect the prize.
The winners will have the choice of taking the ride in the stretch Ford LTD from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne in what will be a jam-packed two days of fun and V8 Supercar action.
The winners will travel overnight from their city of choice and arrive in Bathurst on Sunday morning. They will then watch the race and be admitted to the post-race press conference. The trip home will then commence with the winners arriving home Monday morning.
The four people making the trip will also be provided with a VIP Petfoods Queensland 500 supporters pack as well as a catering allowance
for the trip. V8 Supercar hero Steve Johnson says the prize pack is one of the most unique ever offered by a major event in this country.
"It's a pity I'm driving because I would love to win the road trip and take three of my buddies for the ride. This is one fantastic road trip and
one which should appeal to motorsports fans all over the country."
